Google Goes Down

It’s about 4:14am PST, August 23rd, and as far as I can tell Google is down! Google is my ‘home page’ so at first, when the Google page I was trying to load wouldn’t, I hit the home button. Nothing.. every now n then though I have to cycle my router (y’know unplug it, wait, plug it back in) so I did that, I thought my internet provider was down.

Nope, it was Google. I flushed my DNS, deleted temp files cookies.. I waited a few minutes, then I decide to come blog about it here. Who knows, maybe they got googled up while updating the PR! But.. this site was down too! Odd.. so I go to an escort site I own, it’s working fine, I try DP, no dice.

Every site I know of with Google Ads, wouldn’t load, the entire site, wouldn’t load. What a difference Google can make.

Google PageRank Update - PR Update

There has been much speculation recently regarding the most recently expected Google Page Rank Update. Some say it’s already happened, some say it simply isn’t going to. There was an article floating around saying that Google was switching from what we all know and love.. and fear as Google Page-Rank to Google Webrank.

I orininally disregarded the article, why would google just change. I betchya PageRank is a helluva search term! If they’re going to continue with the measurement, no since in changing the name, and from the article I originally read, that was about all that was set to change.

However, after reading a post on digital point, I am beginning to wonder if perhaps Google isn’t changing something, and it didn’t work out exactly as they’d hoped, as a member on DP pointed out.

The DP member theorized that the first few people that did see some signs of a Google pagerank update on inner pages, the people that are well known and to be trusted type people, that were basically ignored upon their announcements, perhaps it’s true. Perhaps these few people’s websites were updated, minimally, just to test a new algo by Google.

But it didn’t go as planned, it needed some tweekage.. and now we wait. Of course, being that PR Updates are not (per google) a real big priority, there is no reason for them to share the toolbar update info with us.. sooo we wait some more.

As of now however, with nothing but time to kill before advertising slots are filled, links are sold, and PR sales commence, there’s not a whole lot to do, aside from speculate, blog, and wonder, will the Google PR Update ever come, or as some have said, is the tradition gone forever?

Of course there’s always the webmaster forum to ponder the issue in.
